Cattle Town (1952) is set in the aftermath of the Civil War, where Texas, in need of funds, auctions off land to a consortium of Northern investors led by Judd Hastings (Ray Teal). When Hastings insists on taking possession of the land and the settlers refuse to leave, the governor dispatches Mike McGann (Dennis Morgan) to mediate the dispute. Over time, McGann persuades the ranchers to relocate with their cattle, which Hastings also desires. Additionally, McGann develops romantic feelings for Hastings' daughter, Marian (Amanda Blake).
