Inside Moves (1980) centers around Rory, a man who, having reached a crossroads in his life, finds himself starting fresh among the regulars at Max's, a bar in Oakland that serves individuals facing personal challenges. Rory's journey leads him to understand that physical limitations are minor compared to emotional struggles, as exemplified by his bartender friend Jerry. Jerry, a talented basketball player, is held back by a knee injury that requires a costly operation. His life is further complicated by his relationship with Ann, a prostitute. A fortuitous encounter with professional basketball player Alvin Martin and a perilous one with Luscious, a pimp, dramatically alter the course of their lives.
