The Hollow Crown: Henry V (TV) (2012) chronicles the transformation of Hal into a mature and dutiful king, Henry V, following his estrangement from Falstaff, which ultimately leads to Falstaff's demise. Upon learning of his ancestral claim to the French throne through Edward III, Henry V attempts diplomatic relations with the Dauphin, but is met with disrespect when he receives a mocking gift of tennis balls. In response, Henry V assembles a military force to cross the English Channel and seize the throne, successfully capturing the town of Harfleur after a strategic nighttime assault, inspired by a rousing speech. Despite his mercy towards the town's inhabitants, Henry V orders the execution of soldier Bardolph for theft. When the French reject another truce, Henry V prepares for the decisive Battle of Agincourt. On the eve of the battle, he secretly wanders the camp to assess the soldiers' morale. The battle results in a resounding English victory with minimal losses, and the French king, impressed, arranges for Henry V to marry his daughter and names him his successor. However, the film concludes with a somber note, revealing that Henry V succumbs to dysentery at the age of thirty-five, and his son, Henry VI, ultimately loses France.
