Lovely & Amazing (2001) centers around the Marks family, a close-knit group of four women. Jane, the wealthy matriarch, has three daughters who appear to share little in common beyond a peculiar brand of idealism. Jane's decision to undergo cosmetic surgery to change her appearance leads to severe complications, putting her life at risk. Michelle, the eldest daughter and former homecoming queen, struggles with a distant husband and the challenges of raising her own daughter. Elizabeth, the middle sister, is an aspiring actress grappling with insecurity and a habit of rescuing stray dogs. The youngest, Annie, an adopted African American girl, shows promise of escaping the family's legacy of self-doubt and anxiety. Each woman in the family pursues redemption in her unique, often chaotic manner.
