In Search of the Castaways (1962) follows the thrilling journey of a shipping company owner, a scientist, and the children of a missing sea captain as they traverse the globe along the 37th parallel, guided by a cryptic message found in a shark's stomach. The group, including teenage Mary Grant (Hayley Mills), her younger brother Robert Keith Hamshere, and French Professor Jacques Paganel (Maurice Chevalier), embark on a perilous adventure filled with natural disasters, dangerous wildlife, and hostile encounters. Their quest begins when they board the luxurious yacht "Persevero" during a farewell party, aiming to persuade Lord Edward Glenarvan (Wilfrid Hyde-White) to join their mission. With the encouragement of Glenarvan's son, John (Michael Anderson Jr.), the group sets sail for Concepcion, Chile, determined to unravel the mystery of Captain Grant's disappearance.
