The Muppets (2011) follows Walter, an ardent Muppet enthusiast, and his companions Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, as they uncover a sinister scheme by oil tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to demolish the Muppet Theater and exploit the newly found oil beneath it. To prevent this, Walter, Mary, and Gary assist Kermit in reuniting the Muppets, who have scattered in various directions. Fozzie is now part of a Reno casino tribute band, the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a fashion editor in Paris, Animal is undergoing anger management in Santa Barbara, and Gonzo has become a successful plumbing entrepreneur. Together, they aim to host "The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever" to raise the necessary $10 million to preserve the theater.
