Tales That Witness Madness (1973) follows the narrative of Dr. Tremayne, a mysterious psychiatrist overseeing a state-of-the-art asylum that houses four extraordinary patients. When his colleague Nicholas visits, Dr. Tremayne shares his groundbreaking and contentious theories on the descent into madness of each patient. The film unfolds through four unique stories, each featuring a different set of characters. 'Mr. Tiger' delves into the life of Paul, a troubled young man from a wealthy but constantly arguing and unkind family, and his 'imaginary' companion, a tiger. 'Penny Farthing' revolves around Timothy, an antique shop owner who is mysteriously transported back in time by a penny-farthing bicycle in his store, all while being observed by the ever-changing photograph of Uncle Albert. 'Mel' centers on Brian, a man who brings home an old, dead tree and proudly displays it in his living room as a piece of art. His passionate wife, Bella, soon grows jealous of the tree, which Brian has affectionately named Mel.
