A Chinese Ghost Story Part II (Sinnui yauwan II) (1990) follows the journey of Ning, portrayed by Leslie Cheung, who finds himself wrongfully incarcerated. A benevolent elderly man aids his escape and gifts him a protective medallion. Ning subsequently encounters a band of rebels, who, due to the medallion, confuse him with the respected sage. Joey Wong, who previously played a ghostly heroine, takes on the role of Windy, the rebels' leader. Ning develops feelings for Windy, as she reminds him of a past love, and becomes involved in their mission to rescue her father from a malevolent warlord.
