Howl's Moving Castle (2004) follows the journey of Sophie, an 18-year-old girl who spends her days crafting hats in her late father's shop. During an infrequent trip to the market, Sophie crosses paths with the enigmatic Wizard Howl, who, despite his striking appearance, is somewhat lacking in bravery. The Witch of the Waste, misunderstanding their interaction, curses Sophie, turning her into an elderly woman of ninety. Seeking refuge, Sophie ventures into the wilderness and stumbles upon Howl's magical, mobile abode. Concealing her true identity, she takes on the role of Howl's housekeeper. With her newfound vigor, Sophie brings a lively energy to the castle, far more than she ever had as her younger self. The story unfolds as Sophie navigates her new life and the complexities of her relationship with Howl.
