Ping Pong (2002) follows the journey and camaraderie of two contrasting high school table tennis enthusiasts. "Peco" Hoshino is a bold and self-assured player, driven by the ambition to become a professional. He mentors his reserved and intellectual childhood friend, "Smile" Tsukimoto. "Smile" baffles his coach and competitors, who see his natural aptitude for the sport but struggle to understand his laid-back approach to the game. The high school coach learns that his role extends beyond merely honing the students' skills; it involves nurturing their personal growth. As "Smile" starts to refine his abilities, "Peco" faces a significant setback following a loss to rival players. "Peco" finds himself unable to perform at his best until he reconnects with the fundamental reasons that initially drew him to the sport.
