Sentimental Education (1962) follows the tale of Frédéric, a timid man from a small town, who becomes enamored with Anne, a middle-class woman trapped in a marriage with the unfaithful Didier. Didier's infidelity involves a top model named Barbara, adding complexity to the narrative. Catherine, a resolute woman harboring a secret affection for Frédéric, manipulates events to steer Frédéric towards Barbara, hoping to keep him away from Anne. Eventually, Catherine's plan backfires as she herself succumbs to her feelings for Frédéric. Meanwhile, Didier is compelled to flee the country due to a fraudulent scheme.
