All About My Mother (2021) follows the life of Peizhen Ji, a devoted mother who is the backbone of her family, diligently caring for everyone around her. Despite the family's seemingly idyllic life, there are underlying tensions and challenges. Xiaomei Li, Peizhen's daughter, struggles with her own issues while working in Beijing and feels stifled by her mother's overbearing influence. Wenfang Li, Peizhen's husband, is a doctor who had to abandon his surgical career due to a malpractice incident and now works in the emergency room. Additionally, Peizhen's mother-in-law battles severe Alzheimer's disease, relying heavily on Peizhen for daily care. After retiring from her teaching job, Peizhen receives a devastating diagnosis of late-stage cancer, with only a few months left to live.
