Angel (1937) follows the story of Maria, a British noblewoman who feels overlooked and ignored by her husband, Sir Frederick Barker. In a fit of anger, she decides to travel to Paris without informing her spouse. During her time in the French capital, she encounters Anthony Halton, an American man with whom she enjoys dinners and explores the city's attractions. However, when Maria perceives that Halton is becoming too serious, she abruptly returns to England, only to find that her husband has barely noticed her departure.
