I Am a Thief (1934) follows an insurance company's strategic move to expose a network of international thieves by auctioning off the invaluable Karenina diamond necklace. The auction attracts numerous interested parties, with jewel dealer Pierre Londais emerging as the successful bidder. Among the suspicious figures are Odette Mauclair, a young woman, Colonel Jackson, a wealthy American, and the enigmatic Baron Von Kampf. As Londais travels with the diamonds, attempts to steal them occur at his Paris hotel and later on a train bound for Istanbul. When the diamonds vanish, every passenger on the train becomes a potential suspect.
