Folk flest bor i Kina (2002) follows the eccentric events unfolding at a gas station owned by Lasse, who is deeply engrossed in restoring his vintage Tiger Moth airplane, hoping to one day soar through the skies. As Election Day approaches, a series of bizarre and interconnected stories play out over a 24-hour period. A man faces an unpleasant surprise after leaving his family to take a quick swim. A cow ingests a mobile phone. A lesbian couple loses their child. A blind girl and her brother peddle questionable lottery tickets. A young boy develops a crush on the girl at the gas station. A man picks up a defiant young hitchhiker. Three girls with car trouble receive assistance from a man in pajamas. Nine elderly men encounter a young girl trapped in a swamp. This unique film is inspired by eight Norwegian political parties, crafted by six writers, and directed by nine directors.
