Notes of an Itinerant Performer (1941)

Notes of an Itinerant Performer (1941) unfolds during the Meiji period (1868-1912). The story revolves around Uta, a traveling entertainer, who crosses paths with Hiramatsu, a tea merchant from Hamamatsu, at an inn in Shinshu (Nagano). Uta becomes part of the Hiramatsu household. Tragedy strikes when Hiramatsu passes away unexpectedly, leading to the downfall of the family business. Hiramatsu's son, Shotaro, who had been studying in Tokyo, returns home to support his siblings. However, Uta steps in to care for the children, encouraging Shotaro to continue his education.
