The Racer (2020) is set in 1998, when the initial phases of the yearly Tour de France are moved to Ireland. Dom Chabol, a Belgian cyclist in his late thirties, has been a top support rider for the Tour over the past two decades. Dom secretly yearns to don the yellow jersey at least once before retiring. As his likely final Tour begins, Dom is abruptly dismissed from the team he has devoted his life to. His close friend, Sonny, the team masseur, struggles to comfort him about his prospects. However, a fortuitous encounter with Lynn, a young Irish physician, eases his disappointment, and Dom starts to consider the possibility of a civilian life. Nevertheless, as he prepares to return home and confront his estranged sister, a significant doping mishap removes another teammate from the Tour, and Dom is unexpectedly back in the race.
