Miss Marple: The Murder at the Vicarage (TV) (2004) centers around the unpopular Colonel Lucius Protheroe, whose domineering demeanor has made him a target of resentment in the quiet village of St Mary Mead. When he is discovered murdered in the vicarage study, a multitude of suspects emerge. Among them are his wife Ann, who was involved with local artist Lawrence Redding, and his daughter Lettice, who chafed under his strict control. Additionally, the vicar and his assistant, suspected of misappropriating church funds, and the enigmatic Mrs. Lester, with whom Protheroe had a mysterious past, all come under scrutiny. Jane Marple, recovering from a sprained ankle, observes the comings and goings at the vicarage and collaborates with Inspector Slack to unravel the mystery.
