The Player (1992) is a cinematic exploration by Robert Altman, based on Michael Tolkin's novel, that takes aim at the Hollywood studio system. Masquerading as a thriller, the movie brings together nearly every notable actor in Hollywood, weaving a captivating tapestry of reality and fiction. Tim Robbins portrays Griffin Mill, a studio executive whose job security is threatened by the rising star Larry Levy (Peter Gallagher). When Griffin receives ominous postcards from an unknown sender, he suspects David Kahane (Vincent D'Onofrio) is the culprit. Their confrontation ends tragically, and as Griffin fights to keep his job and evade legal trouble, he finds himself drawn to Kahane's enigmatic girlfriend (Greta Scacchi).
