Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt (TV) (2012) follows the story of Jesse Stone, who is still grappling with the loss of his position as the Paradise, Massachusetts police chief. The current town council president, Carter Hansen, had favored his son-in-law, William Butler, for the job. A mysterious explosion involving a police cruiser results in the deaths of Butler and DeAngelo. The former town council president, Hastings "Hasty" Hathaway, seems to have prior knowledge of the incident, raising suspicions. Jesse is temporarily reinstated as chief by Hansen and begins to uncover potential police corruption linked to Butler. A cryptic clue, "2AH10," found on Butler's desk calendar, leads Jesse on a complex investigation. He attempts to re-assemble his team, including his deputy Luther "Suitcase" Simpson and longtime assistant Rose Gammon, but both have moved on. Jesse must solve the case independently, with the help of State Homicide Commander Healy and his psychotherapist Dr. Dix. Thelma Gleffey, Gino Fish, and other familiar faces from Jesse's past also play significant roles. As Jesse delves deeper, he uncovers a web of deceit involving a former associate of Gino, an assassin, and a mysterious boss. The investigation culminates in a high-stakes confrontation at a shipyard, where Jesse faces off against the assassin and ultimately exposes Hasty as the true mastermind behind the drug operations and corruption. In the aftermath, Jesse's position as chief is solidified, and there are hints that his team may reunite.
