That Was Life (2020) follows the story of two Spanish women from distinct generations who end up sharing a hospital room in Belgium. María, who has resided in Belgium for many years after emigrating as a young woman, and Verónica, a young girl who has recently arrived in search of opportunities unavailable in Spain, form an unlikely bond. This unusual friendship prompts María to embark on a journey back to southern Spain with a unique purpose. What starts as a quest to uncover Verónica's roots evolves into a personal journey for María, allowing her to open up to new experiences and reevaluate the principles that have guided her life.
