The Wicket Gate (1974) follows a playwright who travels to Gdansk to observe the rehearsals of his latest creation. Facing difficulties in securing accommodation at a hotel, he finds himself in a private residence shared by a mother and her attractive daughter. The playwright temporarily becomes entangled in their personal struggles and shares a brief romantic encounter with the daughter before hastily departing, much like his arrival.
