Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars (TV) (2009) follows the Doctor as he arrives on Mars on November 21st, 2059, where the Bowie Base One, the pioneering human colony on the Red Planet, faces imminent danger. An intelligent and contagious contaminant, released from the glacier supplying the base's water, threatens to overwhelm the colony. The base's self-destruct mechanism is set to activate, aiming to eradicate both the colonists and the contaminant. The Doctor is aware that this event is a crucial turning point in human history, but grapples with the moral dilemma of whether to intervene and save the day or let history unfold as it should.
