Loyalties (1986) follows the story of Lily and her family as they relocate to a remote town in northern Alberta, where her husband David Sutton practices medicine. The family, including their youngest children, settles in, with their eldest son arriving later from a boarding school. David harbors a hidden past that prompted their abrupt departure from England, a secret he has kept from everyone. The family forms a bond with their neighbor, Rosanne, who finds herself in a tumultuous relationship. After a violent incident, Rosanne ends her relationship and is hired by Lily as a housekeeper. Despite their initial differences, Lily and Rosanne develop a strong friendship. However, their bond is tested when David's concealed secret resurfaces, threatening to disrupt their newfound harmony.
