Greiner, wounded in the skirmish, is taken to the isolated Apache River outpost for the night. The outpost is already hosting a diverse group of travelers, notably two women with an unusual collection of elegant dresses. As dawn breaks, a group of seemingly peaceful Apaches, who have wandered off their reservation, arrive at the outpost. The situation becomes increasingly volatile with the arrival of Colonel Morsby, a prejudiced officer known for his trigger-happy approach, who is eager to resort to violence without considering the potential consequences.
