Initial D (TV Series) (1998) follows the journey of Takumi Fujiwara, an ordinary 18-year-old high school student who works at a gas station and assists in his family's tofu business. Every night at 4 a.m., Takumi delivers tofu to a hotel atop Mt. Akina using his father's Toyota Corolla GT-S, unknowingly honing his skills as a drift racer. His exceptional driving abilities are discovered by Keisuke Takahashi, the second-in-command of the notorious RedSuns team, leading Takumi into the thrilling world of high-stakes drift racing on the treacherous mountain passes of Gunma prefecture. With the support of the local Akina Speedstars team, his eccentric friend Itsuki, his enigmatic girlfriend Natsuke, and the wisdom of his former racer father Bunta, Takumi must navigate the challenges posed by Japan's most skilled underground drift racers.
