Shadow (2018) unfolds in the kingdom of Pei, where a ferocious and unpredictable ruler (Zheng Kai) holds sway. The king's most trusted military leader (Deng Chao) has proven his mettle in combat but must navigate the treacherous waters of the royal court. To ensure his survival, he has developed a "shadow" (also portrayed by Deng), a doppelganger who can deceive both the king and Pei's adversaries when the need for deceit arises. As the king and the commander devise a clandestine assault to seize control of the fortified city of Jing from a rival kingdom, the commander, alongside his wife (Sun Li), devises innovative and deadly tactics to wield Pei's distinctive weapons and shields. The scene is primed for an extraordinary confrontation.
