Shinobi No Mono 8: A New Beginning (1966) unfolds during the tumultuous years of 1570-1573, as the power of Shogun Ashikaga wanes and various factions scheme to seize control, marking the onset of the Sengoku (Warring States) period. The narrative begins with a brutal assault on a gunpowder maker in a rural farmhouse. The first assailant severs the victim's arm with a sickle-and-chain weapon, the second blinds him with a sword, and the third delivers the fatal blow. Amidst the chaos, the gunpowder maker's son, Kojiro Kosume, narrowly escapes the carnage. As the world around him burns, Kojiro grows up and enters the early Tokugawa Era, driven by a relentless desire to avenge his father's murder.
