Me You Them (2000) follows the journey of Darlene, a strong-willed and unmarried woman, who brings her young son back to the sugarcane fields of Bahia. Over time, she navigates the complex emotions of three men—Osias, Zezinho, and Ciro—each bringing different dynamics into her life. Osias, an older man who has built a house with pride, proposes marriage to Darlene, and she accepts. Their life together involves Osias retiring to his hammock while Darlene works tirelessly, eventually giving birth to a second son who is noticeably darker than Osias. Osias then takes in his cousin Zezinho, who is almost as old as Osias and a skilled cook, making Osias content. Darlene finds herself drawn to Zezinho, and another son is born, this time with lighter skin like Zezinho. Later, Darlene meets Ciro, a young and handsome man, and invites him to dinner. Osias insists that Ciro stay, leading to a complicated family dynamic. When another son arrives, the question arises: how will the proud Osias react to the evolving family structure?
