Strange Impersonation (1946) follows a brilliant research scientist who, while testing a novel anesthetic, encounters a troublesome situation. After accidentally hitting a woman with her car, the scientist is coerced into paying a hefty sum by a cunning lawyer who convinces the woman she can profit from the "accident." Simultaneously, the scientist's assistant, harboring romantic feelings for her boss's boyfriend, orchestrates a lab explosion that leaves the scientist disfigured. This act is intended to drive a wedge between the scientist and her boyfriend. To reclaim her life and exact revenge, the scientist undergoes plastic surgery to resemble the blackmailing woman, who tragically dies after a fall from a window. The scientist then sets out to reclaim her boyfriend and expose her treacherous assistant.
