Payment Deferred (1932) follows the story of a bank employee, William Marble, who is in dire need of funds to support his family's financial burdens. When his affluent nephew comes for a visit, Marble seeks a loan, but his nephew turns him down. Driven by desperation, Marble resorts to a drastic measure, deciding to eliminate his nephew. The narrative takes a dark turn as Marble's life is forever altered by the crime he has committed and the sudden inheritance he receives.
