Bulldog Drummond at Bay (1947) follows the adventures of the intrepid Bulldog Drummond as he enjoys a peaceful retreat at his countryside residence in England. His tranquility is disrupted when his home is burglarized by a pair of intruders. Upon their departure, Drummond discovers a cryptic card bearing enigmatic letters. The following day, Doris Meredith arrives, feigning car trouble. Drummond sees through her ruse but decides to play along. He contacts Scotland Yard Inspector Holmes, who reveals that some of the letters correspond to the codename of an agent who vanished while transporting diamonds from France to England. Doris confides in Drummond that the missing man is her brother. Drummond devises a plan using a decoy to flush out the hidden thieves, but they retaliate by kidnapping Doris.
