One of Us (1989) follows a group of Palestinian guerrillas who infiltrate an Israeli camp in the occupied territories, resulting in the deaths of several Israeli soldiers. One guerrilla is captured alive and later dies in the camp. The Israeli military sends an investigator to the camp to determine if the captured guerrilla was executed in cold blood, as some witnesses claimed he was shot while attempting to escape. The investigator, who is a friend of the camp commander, faces a moral dilemma. The narrative revolves around the complex dynamics between the investigator and the camp commander, exploring themes of loyalty, honesty, and the challenges of maintaining integrity in the face of personal and professional pressures. The tension is heightened by their mutual attraction to a female soldier stationed at the camp.
