Harbour of Hope (2011)

Harbour of Hope (2011) chronicles the journeys of Irene, Ewa, and Joe, who were among the approximately 30,000 survivors rescued from German concentration camps and brought to the tranquil harbor town of Malmö, Sweden, in 1945. This documentary captures their remarkable stories, from the moment of liberation to the unresolved enigmas of the present day. Through rare archival footage, we witness 10-year-old Irene taking her first tentative steps into freedom at the harbor, newborn Ewa being carried ashore by her mother, and Joe arriving as a solitary child without his family. The film delves into their experiences of coping with war memories, the significance of receiving help, and the search for a "harbour of hope.
