Rx for Murder (1958) follows the story of American physician Jethro Jones, who travels to a tranquil English coastal town to scrutinize the practices of its prominent medical practitioner, Henry Dysert. Through conversations with local chatterbox Miss Bettyhill and other residents, Jones uncovers whispers that Dysert's reputation may be tarnished, as each of his three former wives—Louise, Charlotte, and Stella—met untimely and enigmatic ends, each time leaving Dysert in a more prosperous financial state. The townsfolk, however, have dismissed these incidents as unfortunate personal misfortunes. Jones is racing against time to expose Dysert as a potential serial wife-killer, as Kitty Mortlock seems to be the next intended target, and Jones finds himself developing romantic feelings for her.
