The Hollow Crown: Richard III (TV) (2016) unfolds in the aftermath of a protracted civil war between the royal houses of York and Lancaster, during which England finds a brief respite under the rule of King Edward IV. However, Edward's younger sibling, Richard, is consumed by envy and resentment towards the prosperity and influence that surrounds him. Driven by malice, an insatiable thirst for power, and bitterness over his physical imperfections, Richard covertly sets his sights on the throne, prepared to eliminate anyone who stands in his way. Leveraging his cunning, deception, and political acumen, Richard orchestrates the marriage to a noblewoman, orchestrates the execution of his own elder brother, and hastens King Edward's decline and eventual demise.
