The Strange Case of Doctor Rx (1942) follows the gripping tale of a series of murders targeting men who were previously acquitted of serious crimes. The enigmatic killer, known as Dr. Rx, has the police baffled. Inspector Hurd and Sergeant Sweeney enlist the help of private investigator Jerry Church to solve the case. Jerry's involvement deepens after a conversation with Dudley Crispin, a renowned attorney who had successfully defended three of the murdered men. Despite the danger, Jerry continues his investigation, even after his new wife, Kit Logan, urges him to quit. The stakes escalate when Ernie Paul, a suspect in one of the murders, threatens Jerry if he doesn't stay on the case. The film reaches a chilling climax when Dr. Rx abducts Jerry and subjects him to a terrifying ordeal, attempting to drive him to madness by simulating a gruesome brain transplant operation.
