Kick of Death (1997) follows Shane MacQuade, a promising figure in Hong Kong's underground kickboxing scene, whose life takes a dramatic turn when he emerges victorious in a fight he was instructed to lose. Accused of murder and pursued by both the Triad gang and law enforcement, Shane flees to the United States. In the Nevada desert, a fortuitous meeting with a professional assassin leads Shane to assume the man's identity and take his place. However, Shane discovers that the violent world he sought to leave behind in Hong Kong is inescapable. A corrupt Las Vegas fight promoter and a stripper named Angelique entangle him in a dangerous web of sex and murder, pushing his martial arts abilities to their utmost and forever altering his life.
