Le parfum de la dame en noir (1949) follows the harrowing tale of Mathilde Stangerson, who, shortly after her wedding, receives the shocking news that her former husband, Larsan, whom she presumed deceased, is still alive and poses a grave threat. Seeking safety, Mathilde retreats to her castle and enlists the help of the intrepid journalist Rouletabille to safeguard her from the impending danger.
