The Steel Jungle (1956) is set primarily within the confines of a grim prison, where the story unfolds around Perry Lopez's character, Ed Novak, a small-time bookie. Novak chooses imprisonment over betraying his Syndicate superiors, a decision that puts immense strain on his pregnant wife, Frances, portrayed by Beverly Garland. As Novak's incarceration extends, he realizes the mob has abandoned him, making him more inclined to reveal what he knows. Meanwhile, fellow inmate Steve Marlin, played by Ted De Corsia, is determined to ensure Novak's silence is eternal. This independently produced film was later distributed by Warner Bros.
