The Lady Is the Boss (1983) follows the story of Wong Hsia Yuan, a traditional martial arts instructor who is deeply resistant to change. His rigid adherence to old methods puts his school at risk, especially when Chan Mei Ling, a young, intelligent, and modern woman, returns from the United States to establish a new branch. Mei Ling employs unconventional and sometimes legally dubious tactics to attract new students, which infuriates Yuan. However, when local criminal gangs become involved, the two must set aside their differences to reclaim their neighborhood and protect their school.
