Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (TV Series) (2012) is set in a grim alternate timeline where, in 1973, extraterrestrial entities called BETA (Beings of Extra Terrestrial origin which is Adversary of human race) began their invasion of Earth. Over the next three decades, these alien forces overran most of the Eurasian continent, resulting in a drastic reduction of the global population by billions. In response to the BETA's unique combat patterns, humanity developed a new class of mobile mechanical humanoid weapons known as Tactical Surface Fighters (TSF). By the year 2001, elite pilots from around the world converge at a UN base in Alaska called Yukon to take part in the Prominence Project. This collaborative initiative between Russia and America focuses on the research and development of the next generation of TSFs. The pilots' primary task is to test these prototypes, which sometimes involves direct combat against each other.
