The Disorderly Orderly (1964) follows the chaotic journey of Jerome Littlefield, who, after failing out of medical school, secures a job as an orderly in a private rest home. His presence quickly turns the facility upside down, causing turmoil for both staff and patients. Dr. Jean Howard, the beleaguered head of the sanitarium, finds herself on the verge of needing her own treatment due to Jerome's wild antics. When the chatty patient Mrs. Fuzzibee incessantly shares her ailments with Jerome, he comically develops psychosomatic symptoms that mirror hers. Meanwhile, Jerome discovers that Susan Andrews, his high school crush, has been admitted to the sanitarium after a suicide attempt. He secretly funds her stay and works to rebuild her self-esteem and confidence, which sparks jealousy in his girlfriend, Julie Blair, a young and attractive nurse who has her sights set on becoming Mrs. Littlefield.
