Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) follows the tale of a celebrated duelist and wordsmith, Cyrano, portrayed by Gérard Depardieu, who is known far and wide in Paris. Despite his prowess, Cyrano's prominent nose has led him to believe that romantic love is beyond his reach. His charming cousin, Roxane (Anne Brochet), summons him after a commotion at a local theater where Cyrano stood up for her honor. Cyrano rushes to her side, hoping she might confess her love for him, only to find that Roxane's heart belongs to the dashing new recruit, Christian (Vincent Pérez). Undeterred by his own feelings, Cyrano agrees to aid Christian in his pursuit of Roxane, using his eloquence to help Christian woo her.
