Det store flip (1997) is set in Denmark during the 1970s and follows the story of teenager Christoffer, whose parents, Nisse and Maria, opt to relocate to a commune in pursuit of an alternative lifestyle. Christoffer, however, struggles to adapt to this new environment and faces ridicule from his peers at school for his unconventional living situation. As part of a plan devised by the commune's elders, Christoffer joins a Maoist group to gain a deeper understanding of societal dynamics. Initially reluctant, he becomes more involved when his new girlfriend finds his activities intriguing. Meanwhile, the police begin to suspect Christoffer of being the culprit behind a series of telephone booth explosions in Copenhagen.
