His life seems idyllic, with loving parents, a devoted girlfriend, a strong social circle, and a promising boxing career. However, his world is abruptly upended when he is arrested and deported to Matamoros on the eve of a crucial boxing match, without the opportunity to validate his American citizenship. Thrust into a vibrant, diverse neighborhood in Mexico City, Leonel must navigate his new reality, confront his beliefs, and uncover the truth about his past. Along the way, he learns Spanish, adapts to Mexican culture, forms new friendships, and finds love, all while pursuing his boxing aspirations and yearning to return to the country he calls home.
