Shine Your Eyes (2020) follows Amadi, a musician from Lagos, Nigeria, who travels to São Paulo, Brazil, on a crucial mission: to find his brother, Ikenna, who has mysteriously cut off all communication with their family, a state described in Igbo as being "lost in transition." Unlike his more driven brother, Amadi is known for his relaxed and carefree demeanor. However, he feels compelled to succeed in his quest to avoid disappointing his parents and to escape the potential burden of becoming the family's provider. In the bustling city of São Paulo, Amadi traces Ikenna's elusive path and uncovers a web of deceit. He learns that Ikenna is not the esteemed Mathematics professor he claimed to be, but rather someone entangled in a complex and nearly delusional series of schemes to amass wealth. As Amadi nears the possibility of reuniting with his estranged brother, he must decide between his loyalty to his family back home and the allure of starting a new life in São Paulo.
