Cargo 200 (2007) is set in 1984 in the USSR, a time when the regime's exhaustion is evident, and the rigidity of the past is starting to ease. With just a year left until Gorbachev's rise to power and the onset of perestroika, the story unfolds in a provincial town where the daughter of a prominent party member vanishes after a nightclub gathering. Despite extensive efforts, no witnesses, clues, or suspects emerge. Concurrently, a gruesome murder occurs in a nearby residence, with the homeowner seemingly the prime suspect. Police Chief Zhurov is tasked with solving both seemingly unrelated cases.
