Enlightened by Fire (2005) delves into the recollections of Esteban Leguizamón, a 40-year-old man who, at just 18, participated in the Falklands War of 1982. The suicide of an old comrade propels Esteban back into the haunting memories of that conflict, where he fought alongside two other young soldiers: Vargas, who took his own life, and Juan, who was killed in action. The narrative explores not only the brutal realities of war and the harsh conditions of the cold, but also the enduring bonds of friendship and camaraderie. Esteban's reflections illustrate the gradual and inexorable descent of their fragile lives into the grip of mortality.
