Lost Ones (2018) follows the life of 18-year-old Maria, who resides in a small village in southern Germany with her younger sister Hannah and their father Johann. Since the passing of their mother, Maria has taken on the role of a protector and caretaker for her family, secretly yearning to escape the confines of their village. Her life takes an unexpected turn when a traveling carpenter, Valentin, arrives and begins working with her father. A clandestine romance blossoms between Maria and Valentin, but as their bond deepens, Maria becomes increasingly distant. The reason for her withdrawal is a dark family secret that she is willing to keep hidden at the cost of her own happiness. Her father, who has an inappropriate attachment to her, complicates matters further. When Hannah discovers the truth, she resolves to rescue her sister, even if it means going against Maria's wishes.
